These are general guidelines of what to expect of a speech and language assessment. An assessment must be completed before receiving speech-language services from a speech language pathologist (SLP) or communicative disorders assistant (CDA). An initial assessment will last approximately 1-2 hours, and include various types of tests depending on the individual’s difficulties.
We encourage you to bring any reports, hearing test results, psychological reports, or previous speech-language assessment reports. This will assist in providing a greater understanding of any past services and the needs at present.
An assessment will focus on the areas of concern identified by the client, family, and/or SLP. After the assessment, a brief summary of assessment findings will be given, and treatment options discussed. A full report is available upon request for an additional fee.
