Speech and language screenings are offered to students as soon as parents sign a consent form. If there are any concerns raised during the screener the speech language pathologist (SLP) will suggest to the parents for an assessment to be completed. Once the assessment is complete, the SLP will complete a full analysis and develop customized goals for the student that will then be targeted during the speech-language therapy sessions.
Payment is done directly between the parents and Anderson Speech Consultants. We only ask that the school offer us a quiet room to carry-out our assessments and therapy sessions. This is a great option for parents who are unable to take their students to speech therapy services after school hours. Many medical insurance policies cover speech-language therapy services.
Students who have difficulties with speech and language development are at higher risk for difficulties with academic performance and literacy development. ASC advocates for early identification and treatment in order to lessen these difficulties and ultimately improve quality of life.
We believe in a community and client-centered approach that involves functional and culturally appropriate goals that build skills in both English and the child’s native language.
We work closely with the child’s family, teachers, school personnel and health care providers to deliver the best treatment possible. We also train and offer workshops to teacher/education assistants who support children while they are online; this training facilitates consistent practice outside of the speech and language therapy session. The combination of personnel training and weekly speech and language therapy via Online/Telepractice has created an outstanding service delivery model for many students who may not have received speech-language and literacy services otherwise.
